Description
This game represents a HUGE step forward in the history of game design. Unlike almost all games of this period, players have CHOICES about where to move, collect money on their journey, and then spend it.This game was designed by a woman known to history only as 'Mrs. Shephard.' This is the first game produced under license by Parker Brothers. (Source: _The Game Makers: the Story of Parker Brothers_ by Philip Orbanes)The board is a stylized map illustrating activities which an American Tourist might engage in as they travel around Europe. Players start on the track on the right at the bottom of the board and using a 'spinner' make their way around the country side. Red dots indicate 'depots' from which a player can bypass part of the landscape by taking a steamboat or some other transport. Midway on the track (at the center of the board) is the 'Railroad Dining Room' in which a player can enter and spend some of their money. - BoardGameGeek
